Sustainability

Sostenibilidad

Sustainability is a very important aspect for us at Halcón Peregrino. That's why at every step we are taking steps to be more environmentally friendly while still offering you the quality products you deserve.

In the fashion industry, around 85% of the textile products manufactured end up in landfills, which has a great negative impact on the environment. Not only that, but one out of every five items produced by the fashion industry ends up as waste without having been used even once.

Manufacturing and production times

The products available in our catalog are manufactured on demand, so we start working on your products as soon as you place your order. Creating and shipping each product takes time, but by manufacturing the products in the order on demand, we avoid overproduction. This way, we take care of you and the planet.

Materials

Garments are made from at least 70% organic or recycled materials or blends of such materials.

To verify the material composition, we request valid certificates from our suppliers:

  • As proof of the organic composition of the clothing, GOTS or SCO certificates.

  • For products with recycled materials, GRS or RCS certificates.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
GOTS (which stands for "Global Organic Textile Standard") is the world's leading standard for the textile processing of organic fibers. It takes into account both social and ecological criteria and is based on independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. This standard also limits which fibers can be blended with organic fibers.

Organic Content Standard (OCS)
OCS or ("organic content standard") is a non-food product certification that confirms the presence of organic material in the final product. It also takes into account the supply chain from source to final product.

Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS)
The RCS ("Recycled Claim Standard") and the GRS ("Global Recycled Standard") are international, voluntary standards that establish requirements for third-party certification of recycled content and the supply chain. The shared goal of these two standards is to increase the use of recycled materials. The GRS includes social and environmental criteria, as well as additional chemical constraints when evaluating management processes.

Inks

Our production partner's high-quality printing technology generates hardly any wastewater and uses less energy than industry-standard printers. Our apparel designs are handled using a variety of techniques. Many of our products are printed using the DTG printing technique, in which the ink is sprayed directly onto the garment, so that it soaks into the fabric. It's like printing on paper, but on clothing. To do this, we use Kornit printers, which manage to reduce wastewater production to practically zero and consume less energy than standard industrial printers, which helps us limit our carbon footprint. The inks we use for printing are Oeko-Tex™ certified, vegan and water-based, so they are free of harmful chemicals. At Halcón Peregrino we take sustainability seriously, that's why we dispose of leftover ink properly following the ink supplier's instructions.

DTG printing
For direct-to-garment printing products, we use Kornit's NeoPigment and water-based inks that are Oeko-Tex™ certified, which means they are safe for use on children's apparel and reduce environmental waste. These inks offer a high AATCC (4) rating for color fastness to washing.

Sublimation
We use Mimaki Dye Sublimation Ink Sb411 and Sawgrass SubliJet HD inks for sublimation products. Both inks are Oeko-Tex™ certified. Sawgrass SubliJet HD ink is also used on mugs. For sublimation products, we also use MYSUBLI-E Sublimation Transfer ink.

Posters and canvases
For posters, we use Epson UltraChrome GS3 ink. This ink is also GREENGUARD Gold certified.
For canvases, we use EPSON SC80610/80600 ink.

Embroidery

At Peregrine Falcon, we embroider our products using Oeko-Tex™ certified threads, making them safe for children's and adults' clothing. Generally, embroidered designs are more durable than printed designs, which indirectly results in less environmental waste. Products with environmentally friendly materials there are a multitude of reasons why a product or material can be considered eco friendly.

Product packaging

At Peregrine Falcon, our products are packaged in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic shipping bags. The amount of PCR included in the packaging depends on where your order is handled, but is at least 50% in the outer polyester shipping bags (white or gray) and at least 30% in the inner clear bags used in multi-item shipments. PCR packaging is made from discarded everyday objects, such as plastic bags and used bottles. This material protects your order just as well as conventional plastic bags, with the difference that choosing PCR over newly produced plastics reduces the environmental impact of this material on our planet.

Note: This information is valid for our own management centers. Products handled at our partners' facilities may be packaged differently.
